About the Position:
The duty station for this position is with the Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Office of Counsel, Mississippi Valley Division (MVD) 1400 Walnut Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi (MS). The MVD Office of Counsel is comprised of the Division Counsel, two assistant Division Counsels and a paraprofessional. It is located in the historic 19th century Mississippi River Commission Building in downtown Vicksburg, MS. The city of Vicksburg, known as the Red Carpet City of the South, is renowned for its history and has a rich cultural, culinary, and military history. Vicksburg is home to not only the Mississippi Valley Division, but also the Vicksburg District, the Engineer Research a and Development Center (ERDC) at the Waterways Experiment Station (WES), and the 412 Engineer Command, all of which are part of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
This is a permanent position in the excepted service without time limitation and will not be filled by a competitive appointment. Service in this position may be fully creditable toward civil service retirement. Any selected applicant who is in the competitive service will be taken out of the competitive service when he or she occupies this position and will compete only with other excepted status employees in the event of a reduction-in-force. He or she, however, remain eligible for reinstatement in the competitive service.
